Poor man’s 15 minutes of fame?

I have a profile on myspace.com but I’m not really sure why. I set it up because a friend’s band was on it and then a couple of other friends mentioned they were on it, so I filled in some information, but despite the fact that I’m participating, it all seems rather silly.

In browsing some profiles I wonder if it’s wrong to laugh at how seriously some people take themselves and/or their myspace.com profile.

It makes me curious…myspace.com profiles, blogs, personal websites…
are they really just the poor man’s 15 minutes of fame?

Well, I wouldn’t want to leave you in the lurch.

BTW, I’ve heard a number of comments about myspace.com, almost all of them negative. One guy said he had received a whole lot of spam after having a blog there.

I think you have a point. But it is also a great way to communicate with your fans if you don’t have time to write to them personally!

Yeah, we all want to feel pretty important. I think the “blog” thing is similar to the reality shows. Everyone has a point of view that they think is legitimate. We all have brains and experience! So why not.
Speaking of reality shows, I just caught some marathons of Project Runway (reality clothing designer contest). I LOVE that show! I can’t wait until the finale on Wednesday.

Well, I’ve enjoyed being on myspace since November. But except for one FOAF and a couple of bands, all my friends on there are people I know personally. I think it’s a fun way to communicate with people far away and see what they’re up to.
